On a Rock

April 15, 2010

In July the vegetation at higher altitudes is still very vibrant. This boulder along a small stream was covered with a nice layer of vegetation still in full activity.

Colours in the field

April 14, 2010

A colourful carpet of flowers in bloom around lake Erdemolo. This is from last June. I was there the past weekend and everything is still covered in under 2 meters of snow.  Looking forward for when the snow is much less.

At the Starting of the Winter

April 12, 2010

I’m continuing posting images taken last year. This one is from a nice trip at the beginning of the winter in November 2009. A layer of fresh snow covers the forest where the autumn colours are still visible (mainly larches at this altitude).

Ready for the Autumn

April 8, 2010

Here is a picture taken last autumn in the Genova Valley. The colours where at the top and we managed also to get some decent images of the sunset.

On the River Bank

April 7, 2010

Standing on this river bank in the Genova Valley, attracted by the colours of the water and rocks. The dark forest on the other bank looks very mysterious and intimidating.

A Carpet of Heather

April 6, 2010

A colourful carpet of heather blooming in late spring 2009.

I was attracted by the vivid colours on the rocks near this small stream. I placed the camera close to the ground in order to use the jagged shape of the main rock on the left to lead into the frame.

Painted Water

April 1, 2010

I think it is time to get back to photography. Most of the winter is already gone without having any opportunities for going out there and take pictures.

Now spring is already at the door and flowers are starting to come up (at least in the valley). This long weekend I hope to manage some trips in the mountains to take some new pictures of the snow that is still hanging on the tops.

Here I’m posting an image taken in July and that is being sitting on my hard drive. The scene is a close-up of a small stream going through the Moccheni Valley. I had to boost the ISO of my 5D in order to freeze the motion of the tall grass. Even then, it is still a bit blurred but I think that it does not detract too much from the scene.
